Work from everywhere, anytime

If you look around corporate America, it’s easy to see things are different than before the pandemic. What once took us by surprise is now the norm.  Companies have had to adjust virtually to adapt, including modernizing their communications capabilities to support a remote and hybrid workforce.

Employees must be able to be productive from anywhere.  For a time, we were forced to stay close to home, converting kitchen tables and partially used home offices into full-time workstations. We all believed this new work environment was temporary, that within a few months, things would get back to normal and we would all return to work at our company offices.

No one would have anticipated that the virtual office would last as long as it did, and now, according to Pew Research, more than 60% of workers say they don’t want to return to the corporate office.

This massive shift is forcing companies to build more flexible communications to support their workforces. McKinsey found this dynamic has caused a massive supply chain disruption, with value shifting to technology-focused solutions which are available NOW.

Microsoft Teams takes the lead

The growth of Microsoft Teams seems never-ending. At the end of April 2021, Microsoft Teams reached 145 million daily active users. Then in August 2021, Microsoft revealed the platform had more than 250 million monthly active users, after changing its counting metric.

Due to reasons like working from home, the 2020 pandemic, and the continuation of digital transformation programs, Microsoft Teams' growth records have been obliterated almost as soon as they have been published.

Back in January of this year, Microsoft revealed that its collaboration platform, Microsoft Teams, was now being used by more than 270 million users every month – that number will now be more like 285 million, according to the current Cavell Group forecast. That’s a pretty startling figure as you only have to travel back in time to November 2019 for the first public user announcement when there were only 20 million users.
